My Approach

I am so glad you want to learn more about health coaching with me. First off, you might see words like “holistic” and “integrative” around my site. This means that in addition to focusing on nutrition, we will also look at areas such as stress, sleep, relationships, movement, and career, just to name a few. Basically, we will go on a journey to look at all areas that holistically affect our health, and how these areas are connected.

I also take a functional approach to wellness, meaning we will target the root cause of your symptoms and health issues. Whether you experience bloating, low energy, unwanted weight gain, painful PMS, acne, anxiety, high cholesterol or even autoimmune issues - all of these can be traced back to these three main root causes:

  1. GUT HEALTH

  2. BLOOD SUGAR BALANCE

  3. INFLAMMATION

These three areas will be the main focus as we begin working together, as they are the foundation of my Functional Health Protocol. No matter your symptoms, we can get to the root cause and have you feeling your best!

Below are some of the pillars that guide my philosophy as a holistic coach. I hope some of these resonate with you as you consider taking steps to realign your health.

  • In our society, it has become a common practice to treat symptoms rather than the root causes of certain conditions. We often wait to see the doctor until we have no other option, until our symptoms are so bad that medications and invasive treatments become the go-to solution.

Instead, we have the option to take preventive action that would allow us to avoid these illnesses altogether, or at least treat them in ways that are less invasive, and get to the root of the issue rather than mask symptoms.

  • There is no one-size-fits-all approach to health. The way our bodies respond to certain foods or environments can even change for us personally depending on our lifestyle factors.

This means we take the time to learn what your unique body & mind need, known as your bio-individuality, and how to understand the way your body is communicating with you.

  • Diets can have us repeating cycles of weight loss and weight gain, motivation and discouragement, self-love and shame.

I believe in finding a wellness approach that doesn’t involve extreme deprivation or obsessive calorie-counting. Rather, we can adopt sustainable lifestyle practices that become the undercurrent for our lives, carrying us to a healthier place one day at a time.

  • We are incredible beings, with innate healing systems that allows us to fight illnesses, repair wounds, and even maintain homeostasis in harsh environments. Part of my approach is to trust in these inner systems that are always working towards balance, and learn what your body needs to support itself towards health.

I work with my clients to get in touch with their body’s needs because I understand that life happens and your needs will change. I want to equip you with the self-awareness to make the best decisions for yourself in any given circumstance. I believe each person is fully capable of making well-informed decisions as their own expert, not the latest magazine article or fad diet book.

  • Let’s define what you value most from your well-being. We’ll use these visions to motivate specific goals that bring you closer to where you want to be.

As your coach, I will not dictate a diet for you, but together we will explore why some foods make you feel better than others, and how to strategically use that feedback. Together we will co-create your health goals within reasonable time frames and with actionable objectives, so you know exactly what you’re working toward.

Here are some concepts that we will explore during our work together:

  • Primary food.

It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment.

When these primary foods are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.

  • Crowding out.

Many nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition.

My approach is different: by eating and drinking foods that are good for you, you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods. Simply put, you will crowd out the unhealthy food in your diet. This takes a little practice to accomplish, but I will support you along the way.

  • Bio-individuality.

The concept of bio-individuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. "One person’s food is another person’s poison," and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.

  • Deconstructing cravings.

Cravings play a critical role in understanding what your body needs and shouldn’t be ignored. When you learn how to deconstruct your cravings and understand what they’re really telling you, you will be able to reclaim a sense of balance and harmony.
